The owners of this house, both designers, sought to break the mold of Singapore's interior design landscape with a bold and extreme take on minimalism, where form follows function. Their design brief emphasized a focus on the design process, planning, and renovations, which our team at M2 Décor meticulously brought to life.

As a childless couple, they desired an open space with an island statement piece symbolizing the 'heart' of the house. This led to the creation of a curved feature island, serving as a central pillar around which their daily lives revolve. It functions as a workspace, dining table, and a place to relax with friends over coffee. By removing the partition wall, we established an open-concept living space without distinct separations between the bedroom and living areas, making the small space appear larger and more open.
Embracing the essence of minimalist design, the couple lives with minimal household items, defying conventional Singaporean living by forgoing built-in storage, sofa sets, and a TV console. This deliberate choice resulted in a clutter-free, bright, and airy environment. Their wardrobe, inspired by minimalist retail shops, uses hanger bars to keep clothes neatly arranged in neutral black and white, reinforcing the minimalist theme. Even the appliances, such as the fridge, washing machine, and dryer, are concealed in the kitchen area.

The selection of materials was crucial to achieving a cohesive look throughout the house. Micro cement flooring eliminates the conventional grout lines seen in tiles, while concrete-inspired laminates and stone-lookalike surfaces for the feature island and kitchen top contribute to the tranquil, calming, and clean aesthetic.

Through these thoughtful design choices, we created a serene and minimalist haven that reflects the clients' vision and lifestyle.
